Painter.
Yamaguchi works using acrilyc paint on swelling shaped canvas mainly.
On the canvas she describes gracefully the sensibility of girls who have fragility and strength at the same time.
The scenery is “Touge no chaya” the geisha house in Edo era and the girls work there.
“Touge no chaya” is a kind of symbol of the culture and customs in Edo era. Yamaguchi goes down into there and observes the girls’ quotidian life.
The scenes of paintings are cut off from those girls’ lives by the artist with Edo era method, Ukiyoe style and contemporary manner.
At Edition Works, Yamaguchi is making etchings and other prints from 1998.
