増田聡子展＠日立市郷土博物館 SATOKO MASUDA RETROSPECTIVE @ Hitachi City Museum

10月24日より日立市郷土博物館にて『増田聡子展　色彩と形象の交響詩』が開催されています。
この展覧会は日立市郷土博物館の開館40周年記念特別展示として、日立市生まれである増田聡子の回顧展が開かれているものです。

新表現主義やニューペインティングなどが隆盛した80年代から制作を始めた増田の作品は、絵の内容に合わせて画面の形を変化させるシェイプドキャンバスのスタイルで注目を浴びました。

その後、四角い画面に立ち戻りつつ、絵の具もアクリルからより豊かで深みのある油絵の具へと変化しました。

スタイルを変化させつつ制作されてきた作品は、常に植物的な形と鮮やかな色彩により、生命力のあるリズムが観るものを豊かさの中に導きます。

ペインティング作品とともにエディション・ワークスで制作した版画作品も展示されています。

健康上の問題により作家活動の中断を余儀なくされて7年が過ぎたのち、昨年6月 hino gallery（東京/新富町）での新作による個展で復活を果たし、今年はこの回顧展の開催です。

SATOKO MASUDA RETROSPECTIVE @ Hitachi City Museum

“SATOKO MASUDA RETROSPECTIVE” is running at Hitachi City Museum from 2015 Oct. 24.

This exhibition is held as the 40th anniversary memorial special exhibition of Hitachi City Museum.

Satoko Masuda was born in Hitachi city and is working as a contemporary painter.

Masuda started her career as a painter in ’80s in which the movements of Neo-expressionism and New painting were peak.

And her style was spotlighted with her paintings on ‘Shaped canvas’ in that period.

Later, she started to use square canvas gradually and changed the paint from acrylic to oil that has richer and deeper colors.

Even changing the styles in years, her works have always botanical shapes and vivid colors that create the energetic rhythm.

With the paintings, the prints by Edition Works are on show.

After interrupted seven years by health problem, Masuda restarted her artist activity with the solo show at hino gallery in Tokyo in June last year.

Then this time, she had the opportunity to have this retrospective exhibition.
